Love…in the simplest form.

Isn’t it always the little things that mean the most. Extravagant things are fun and can fill you up for a while…but the smallest things seem to be the gems that grab a hold of your heart in a more permanent way.

Today’s “little thing” was a lovely note from my daughter. As I was tucking her into bed last night she handed me two notes; one written in purple marker, the other in pink. She gave them to me and said,” I made you a note to take with you to work.” They were simple and thoughtful. And they filled me up. She said she thought they would cheer me up if I had a bad day. Awwe…

She gave me the perfect gift. And it is now hanging on my cubicle wall where it will stay through my tenure here, however long that may be.  What a gift to be able to look at those notes each day, and know that I am raising a daughter to be so thoughtful, kind and loving. What on earth did I do to deserve her?

I’ve said this before and I truly mean it, I simply don’t know how I got so lucky to have that sweet, precious child as my daughter. I am grateful beyond knowing. My love for her knows no measure. And the love and joy she gives me is more precious than the rarest of diamonds.  The love between a parent and child is unlike anything else. I thank God for Abby every single day.  Being her Mommy is what I was put on this earth to do. Most days I really believe it’s the only thing I do well.  I’m simply faking everything else.  And, honestly, that’s just fine by me.

Happy International Women’s Day to my fellow Mama warrior’s. Remain strong and never forget your worth. For today and every day we embark on the greatest job there is: raising strong women to take the world by the balls.
